According to new information, Sucker Punch Productions’ Ghost of Tsushima could release as late as the second half of 2020, apparently in part due to the fact that The Last of Us 2 is getting delayed until spring of that year. Ghost of Tsushima is the one Sony PlayStation exclusive due out over the next year that fans don’t know much about after much of the spotlight has been taken by The Last of Us 2 and Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 7 Rema

Ghost of Tsushima was one of E3 2018’s biggest sleepers . Not to say it hadn’t attracted attention beforehand, but its show-stopping gameplay trailer proved the game’s beauty doesn’t end with its cinematic sequences. The stunning environmental detail, evocative color palette, and fluid character animation all bleed seamlessly into the in-engine gamep

That seems almost certainly impossible now, though, according to a statement from Kotaku ‘s Jason Schreier on Twitter . The industry veteran followed up a report that spotlighted the likelihood of The Last of Us 2 getting delayed until Spring 2020 by stating that, despite not having a release date yet, it would likely mean that Ghost of Tsushima patch notes|https://tsushimalegend.com/ of Tsushima gets delayed as well. According to him, Ghost of Tsushima was originally planned for the first half of 2020, but it likely won’t launch until the second half of the year now that The Last of Us 2 is being delayed until that spring. He also stated that it’s probably unlikely to expect the game to be changed into a PS5 tit

Authenticity to the period and setting were one of Sucker Punch’s key objectives when building the game. The team traveled to Japan to study the environment and architecture of the time and took that knowledge to develop a stunning game. From the thick forests to the lush moss growing on rocks to the fields of wheat that blow in the wind, Ghost of Tsushima is a gorgeous game to behold. To add additional authenticity to the world, the demo was played with Japanese audio, an option that will be available players at launch.

If Ghost of Tsushima does release in the second half of 2020, it would be a far cry from the potential 2019 release date that many fans had hoped for at the beginning of this year. It would also make for a second PS4 exclusive delay in a short timeframe after The Last of Us 2 got the same treatment. With that said, though, game delays aren’t necessarily a bad thing in the games industry — many games that were delayed over quality concerns or simply to give developers more time to execute on exciting ideas have become game of the year contend

It’s been interesting working on this game because in past titles we’ve been able to make it up, frankly. For a superhero game set in Seattle, we knew what we were doing, but in this game we are constantly learning about Japanese culture or the norms of samurai. And it’s exciting because it changes the way you work to learning in the same way that players get to learn about these things, and in fascinating det

These sentiments came out during an interview with GamesIndustry.biz at VIEW Conference 2018 in Turin. As Sucker Punch and Sony Interactive Entertainment revealed previously, Ghost of Tsushima is set on the titular island between the Korean Peninsula and Japan, with players following one of the few remaining samurai that can fend off the Mongol invas

We got to sit down with Sucker Punch Productions to see Ghost of Tsushima up close. Though it was the same demo shown at the conference, we did learn important new details. The game takes place in 1274 during the Mongols’ invasions of the island of Tsushima. You play as Jin Sekai, the last living samurai on the island. Having lost everything to the Mongols, Jin now fights for the common people as he tries to stave off the invasion.

Capcom went ahead and confirmed the existence of Resident Evil 3’s remake. In a nice fakeout, the «State of Play» announcer revealed it as «the campaign portion of Resident Evil Resistance, » which confirms that the game will have a full multiplayer mode. It will be heading to PS4 (and presumably Xbox One and PC) on April 3, 2020. For more information, click he

While this premise and story are much different than anything Sucker Punch has worked on before, Nate Fox finds something romantic about feudal Japan and believes it to be a setting underused by western develop

What fans do know about Ghost of Tsushima is exciting, though. The gameplay that’s been demonstrated looks compelling, a mixture between tense stealth and gorgeous combat, and it’s made even more interesting by the fact that Sucker Punch is working with real samurai to help develop Ghost of Tsushima and make it as authentic as possible. According to Sony boss Shuhei Yoshida, Ghost of Tsushima’s graphics are also so good that even he was impressed when he got to check out the game this summer — a comment that not only got consumers excited, but led to speculation that the game might actually release sometime in 2
