Overwatch 2 Is Already Making Some Weird Mistakes With Its Battle Pass

On the surface, the game is making all the right decisions. Both versions of the battle pass are packed with skins, sprays, charms, and a variety of content that outweighs anything its predecessor had in its first few months. Seasonal events are established, and an existing roster of heroes we’ve already fallen in love with have a generous roster of cosmetics and lore to build upon. I’m already invested, and for Blizzard that is half the battle right now.

If you’re a free-to-play Overwatch 2 player, you only get 20 items from the seasonal battle pass. Overwatch 2 seasons last nine weeks, so it would take you just over 20 years of consistently completing every battle pass to earn the same number of items I got from Overwatch’s loot boxes. If you’re willing to upgrade to the premium battle pass, which gives you all 80 items, you’ll catch up to me in a little over five years — and it will only cost you $500. I’m doing napkin math here. I haven’t factored in the 60 Coins you can earn a week or whatever we might get for free from seasonal events, but you can see my po

I am really struggling on where to put Zarya. She’s a Russian soldier with arms like Redwoods, so I think tanks would come fairly naturally to her. Then again, it has been heavily speculated that Zarya is gay, and we all know gays can’t drive. A pickle. Maybe she’d aim well but struggle with three-point turns. Let’s put her in fourth and stop worrying about

I can buy skins outright, but they used to be earned through chance, so the value of each skin is twisted in a way that the community is going to take a long time to reconcile. In reality is it no different to how things are done in games like Apex Legends or Fortnite , with the very best skins costing around $15-$20, but we were used to earning them in a much easier way, and thus it feels unfair. For someone like me with more skins than sense, I feel like a dragon sitting atop a mountain of gold unaware of how they stumbled across such riches. I’m serious, using the new values assigned to skins I think my account is worth thousands. Yet it’s also worthless.

Implement multiple seasonal events into a single battle pass, rewarding players for completing activities and levelling up their favourite heroes across both casual and competitive playlists. You could ensure that the most beloved skins are making a return on a frequent basis, much like seasonal events provided us with multiple chances to earn distinct skins on a yearly basis. Skins, sprays, emotes, voice lines, and other cosmetics could be brought into fray at w

Overwatch finally got a Black woman with the launch of Overwatch 2, but it’s odd that they are still outnumbered in the game by animals. In any case, Winston has the opposite problem of Wrecking Ball. He’s a big ol’ gorilla, and therefore too large for the tank. He’s above Wrecking Ball entirely because if you could squeeze him in there (give him a big buttery butt or something), he could probably make a go of it. But also, even then he’d probably break the controls, so second bottom it

Before you post this on your angry gamer subreddit, hear me out. I think paid video game loot boxes are vile. They are predatory in nature, designed to exploit players and obscure the real cost of in-game items. I think every country in the world should outlaw them, and I’m glad Overwatch got rid of them. At the same time, Overwatch 2’s monetization is terrible. In the transition to free-to-play, we lost the ability to earn things for free. Though I’m mostly positive on the gameplay changes, it’s hard to ignore that Overwatch 2’s progression is worse in almost every way. I don’t love admitting it, but Overwatch was better off with loot bo

When I play Overwatch , I bounce between DPS and Tank heroes. Entirely because of Mercy’s design I have dabbled in Support, but I’m frankly not that great at it, so DPS and Tanks it is. I’m in the mood to write about Overwatch, but at the time of writing Overwatch 2 has not yet launched and the original has been shut down. I missed the beta, haven’t played for Overwatch2fans.com at least a year, and I’m nowhere near enough of an expert to comment on anything meaningful. That’s why I’m ranking all of Overwatch’s Tanks by how well they could drive a real t

Right now I have almost everything I could ever want, and I’m smart enough now to avoid wasting money on currency unless there is something I desperately want. The battle pass is one of the few means of progression right now, with the character levelling system teased in earlier trailers abandoned until PvE rolls around. Seasonal skins that used to justify events are now available whenever we like, or a part of bundles that cycle through the store each and every day.

In Overwatch 2, both loot boxes and Credits are gone. Instead players will need to buy a new currency, Overwatch Coins, with real money. Coins can be used to buy the seasonal battle pass which includes about 80 items, or spend them directly on the items they want. A legendary skin costs 1900 Coins, or roughly $19. You can earn a total of 60 Coins every week by completing all of the weekly challenges. There are no Coin rewards on the battle pass, nor any other method for earning co
