The Tome

The Tome is the core of the entire Archive that’s an interconnecting tree of nodes called «The Auris Web». All these nodes are constructed with branching challenges that will each need to be completed during trials. These challenges can be something simple like, «help a survivor off a meat hook» or «repair 2 generators during a trial», etc. The completion of a challenge will unlock the succeeding one, each with differing Tiers. Once players complete an entire web of challenges, they will be rewarded a ‘Completion Charm’ and ‘Rift Fragments’. Charms are unique cosmetic items that are attached to the belt of the survivors that are specifically tied to their origin stories. Thus, killers can also get charms, but they’re only decored on the meatho

A solid strategy when using the Demogorgon is to place a portal at every generator or major location across a map. This allows the killer to have access to any location that a survivor may deem as advantageous. On top of this accessibility, the Demogorgon can activate each of these portals to essentially have a full surveillance camera to watch over these key areas. This allows the killer to lock down any offensive attempts made by the survivors and to excel at dominating the online ar

One thing that was interesting about developing the Silent Hill chapter for Richard was seeing how many people at Behaviour Interactive knew in-depth details about the franchise and locations like Midwich. He said artists came to him with ideas about adding little references, which led to it being «packed with secrets.» Cote said this passion emphasizes the franchise’s significa

Completing an entire web of challenges will also unlock the next Tier of challenges called «Master Challenges». Even though the earlier challenges can be stacked and carried over across several trails, ‘Master Challenges’ will need to be done in just one trial. Completing the ‘Master Challenges’ are a much more difficult feat but, they offer more robust rewards. The kicker is that some of these challenges can only be completed by using a specific perk that’s only available for purchase in the ‘Shrine’ for one week. Therefore, stopping by to shop around within The Shrine is a good idea before taking on the higher Tier challen

The Demogorgon is allowed 6 portals to be in the arena at a time. This allows the killer a wide variety of options to dominate the map space and to lock down certain key areas of the map. The portals are invisible to survivors until they have been «activated» which then allows survivors the chance to destroy the portals. To activate a portal a Demogorgon simply has to travel to that portal from another portal, this activates both of the portals used to travel. Once activated the tunnels become visible to the survivors and can be destroyed. However, once activated the Demogorgon has the ability to see a survivor’s aura once they are close to an activated portal. This provides the creature with some powerful recon abilities in a ma

In both games, players will find that they are rewarded with Blood Points and rank, or experience points, by engaging in a broad range of activities. A survivor in dead by daylight builds by Daylight who repairs generators quickly and escapes safely but by chance never encounters the killer or had the opportunity to engage in altruistic actions may have «won», but their quantifiable post-match rewards will be minimal, and they may even lose a r

The Archives are broken up into three distinct categories; Rift, Tome, and Shrine. They each offer something unique to help players understand the survivors’ backstories, perks, and even unlock some cosmetics. There’s a branching algorithm of various challenges that players must complete in order to achieve higher status and unlock character origin-story elements. Some challenges can be rolled-over across different trails and give players multiple chances to complete. However, there are higher Tier challenges that only give players one chance to accomplish. The following is a list of the different layers of the Archive and how it functi

Given his offensive playstyle, survivors will most likely be healing quite often when facing a well versed Oni player. This allows Oni to mesh well with the powerful «nurse’s calling» perk which can be taught to the Killer. This allows Oni to see when survivors are healing nearby. Given Oni’s desire to constantly be doing damage to survivors this will be a common occurrence during the course of matches. Utilizing this perk can truly build on his strengths as a kil

Given his ability to cover large distances, Demogorgon’s ability to catch up to survivors is surprisingly lacking. Although his lunging attack is a powerful move, it is rather finicky at times. It requires a certain degree of accuracy to connect against evasive survivors and has smaller range than a killer would hope for. Plus his recovery animation after whiffing the lung is glacial at times and can easily grant a survivor the time required to esc
